Qualitair controls street temperatures
Published:  26 October, 2005

One of the country’s largest supermarket chains is undergoing a major refurbishment and conversion programme that includes the installation of the latest Qualitair QLC, low temperature ceiling cassettes from Eaton-Williams.

Qualitair’s QLC units are being installed within the Market Street area of each store. This is unique to Morrisons and consists of a collection of specialist food counters such as a fishmonger, bakery and green grocer and is part of the company’s strategy to offer customers freshly prepared food in-store every day, combining traditional craft skills with friendly service.

The units have been installed in the ceiling void directly over the preparation areas for meat and fish. Staff comfort and food safety is paramount for every one involved in food service or food preparation and, effective temperature control of food is essential to meet food safety regulations and cannot be achieved with standard air conditioning.

Qualitair’s stylish QLC range has been designed specifically to address food preparation requirements with temperature control down to 6°C to meet EC food legislation requirements. Low velocity, four-way air discharge reduces cold draughts on workers and customers with the advantage of eliminating the risk of product ‘burning’.

An additional feature of the QLC is its low profile fascia, which ensures continuity of interior design. It can if necessary, be mounted beneath solid ceilings with an additional decorative surround concealing any piping or wiring connections.

The QLC has already proved a hit with major retailers and can be found in stores throughout the country where raw and cooked meat and poultry is being prepared.

R407c and R404a refrigerants are available and the units have been designed round a standard ceiling matrix, to facilitate easy installation and maintenance which in turn reduces ownership costs.

The QLC has already provided a unique solution for other major retailers and can be found in stores throughout the country where raw and cooked meat and poultry is prepared.
