The funding that currently allows heating engineers in England to receive free training for the energy efficiency qualification is almost coming to an end.
SummitSkills is encouraging installers to sign up for the course after it has estimated that from mid-October, there will be no more automatic funding to train for this qualification.
Any installer that carries out installation or replacement of boilers will need the Certificate in Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating to be registered as a 'competent person' under the Part L of the Building Regulations. Businesses that do have the qualification also have a competitive advantage over those without, who will have to use the building control department at a local authority to sign off the work.
"Places on the fully funded courses are rapidly being used up," said Keith Marshall, Chief Executive of SummitSkills. "To be in with a chance of covering the costs of training, installers need to book now or they could be disappointed at a later date."
