The pressure is on for Lord's
Published:  02 July, 2005

E Richards has put the pressure on for Lord's Cricket Ground by providing its traditional brass valves to complement the Victorian cast iron radiators that feature in the historic Grade II listed Pavilion.

The solid brass Empire Thermostatic handwheel valves have been chosen for their traditional appearance which has been copied from an

original design used during the 1920s and 1930s. The valves which are handmade in Britain have been especially engineered so that they are compatible with historic Victorian and Nouveau cast iron radiators.

Paul Trace, Managing Director of E Richards said: “We are proud that E Richards has been given this opportunity to continue our tradition in supplying hand made products to historical events and projects. Originally a blacksmiths in 1893, E Richards was contracted in 1914-1918 to HM Government for the supply of horse shoes, nails and a range of brackets and in 1939 it also supplied the War Dept with components for tanks and bailey bridges. Over a hundred years later, our brass valves now control the heat at one of the most famous

buildings in world sport!”

The refurbishment of the pavilion at Lord's Cricket Ground took seven months to complete and was officially reopened with a ceremony

attended by Tom Graveney, the MCC President and former English batsman.
