Carrier Corporation has extended its commitment to China with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new research and development (R&D) centre in Shanghai.
The R&D Centre,located at Jinqiao,Pudong,is scheduled to be fully operational by 2008 and will form an integral part of Carriers US$50 million spend in China over the next five years on R&D.
“The Carrier China Research & Development Centre is yet another milestone in Carrier’s rich history and long-term commitment in China,” said Carrier Corporation President Geraud Darnis.“It brings Carrier’s investments in China to approximately US$175 million.”
Mr Qiu Baoxing, Vice Minister of Construction said: “We welcome multinational corporations who bring to China their most advanced technologies and products and develop appropriate technologies and products for the China market. We believe that the opening of the Carrier Global R&D Centre in Shanghai will give a new boost to the promotion of the development of Green Buildings in China”.
With predictions that the China HVAC market will double by 2010, Carrier plans to maintain its leadership in the country, providing appropriate solutions that will meet China’s evolving needs for heating, cooling and refrigeration.
