Redesigned dampers at a lower price
Published:  02 June, 2005

A range of smoke and fire dampers have been re-engineered and launched at a significantly lower price.

Gilberts of Blackpool has recently launched the new range of Ductgard multi-blade smoke and fire dampers following a major value engineering exercise. This has resulted in prices that are at least 15 percent cheaper than the range it replaces and puts the duct mounted damper range firmly on a collision course with the market leader.

Although the prices are incredibly competitive, this is not an inferior product. On the contrary, the new Ductgard range is a fine piece of British-made engineering. There are now ten control mode options, including eight fully automatic motorised versions. The motorised units now feature very low torque operating characteristics, due entirely to a redesigned linkage between the motor and the damper blades. In this smoother patented arrangement, the motor is fitted directly to the damper body reducing the number of parts and bearings and allowing the use of a smaller and lower cost drive motor.
