Emerson Network Power has introduced, via its Liebert Hiross brand, the innovative ‘Five Nines’ high density cooling and power conditioning solution developed for 99.999% performance in IT environments.
The advent of increasingly more powerful computer servers, commonly referred to as ‘Blade Servers’, has led to a rapid increase in the heat density per square metre of the typical computer room.
It is possible to have heat densities per IT rack of 24 kW and it is also widely acknowledged that this could increase by another 50 percent over the next few years. This presents a number of interesting problems to both the IT Manager and Mechanical consultant - the most obvious being how to cool the latest generation of IT equipment.
The ‘Five Nines’ solution is just one of a range of equipment offered by Emerson Network Power, but it is the first developed solely to cool ‘Blade Servers’. Primarily the aim was to provide a solution that does not compromise any of the key features of a well-designed computer room air conditioning system.
