The new Affiliate Membership scheme from the Lighting Industry Federation is designed to provide lighting specifiers from all backgrounds with fast and easy access to vital information relating to lighting regulations, standards and best practice.
The LIF has launched a new category of membership, aimed at anyone involved in the specification of lighting – including architects, lighting designers, consulting engineers and contractors.
Membership is sensibly priced at £500 per annum and provides access to a comprehensive range of services, including information on a specially constructed website and access to LIF training courses at a discounted rate, all of which are CPD accredited by RIBA and CIBSE.
LIF also has a strong relationship with the Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting (ICEL) and affiliate members will have free access to a wide range of information on the assessment, design, installation and testing of emergency lighting.
“We have seen some very significant changes in lighting legislation and standards in recent years and the Affiliate Membership scheme will enable specifiers to remain up to date without exhaustive trawling through a host of websites,” explained LIF Technical Manager, Bernard Pratley.
Within the legislation section, the site will take in Health & Safety, the Low Voltage Directive, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive and fire safety legislation. Standards for both products and their application will also be readily available. As well as detailing existing legislation, the site will cover forthcoming legislation with information on anticipated content, implications and likely timings.
