Troops at a Surrey Barracks are enjoying hot showers again after the replacement of an old water heating system with new equipment from Lochinvar.
A total of 15 copper-fin water heaters and storage tanks were supplied to the Gibraltar Barracks in Camberley,by the Banbury based company, as part of a major decentralisation project.
John Wolfe,of F.G. Skerritt,who installed the system said:“This replacement project was initiated due to the inefficiency of the old system.The army barracks wanted the reassurance that they could obtain a hot water supply in large quantities at any time.”
Lochinvar's Managing Director,David Pepper,added:“Copperfin units are popular because of their scale-free operation,even in hard water areas.Not only does this ensure long and reliable operation,but it also means the high efficiency will be maintained throughout the life of the equipment.
“The copper-fin water heater and tank arrangements worked particularly well here,especially in view of the limited plant room space available.At the heart of each water heater is the finned copper heat exchanger,which has nine times the heat transfer ratio over plain tube.
This combination over the plain tube allows for a compact and lightweight design.”
