The construction of a £1m Hospitality Suite at one of the UK's oldest racecourses is under way following work by EW Beard.
The Wiltshire contractors have demolished a viewing stand,two bars and Tote betting area,in preparation for the structure at Salisbury racecourse,which is due to open at the start of the 2005 flat racing season in May.
Designed for maximum visibility,the exterior face of the part circular,part boat-shaped building is to consist of coloured rendered panels and glazing fixed to a structural steel frame,built on concrete foundations.
Inside,the facilities will include a bar for owners and trainers, toilets and a new Tote betting area.The kitchen will be equipped to serve two 40-seater corporate boxes on the first floor,with an open terrace bar on the top floor.The finished result promises to provide panoramic views around the racecourse for up to 400 spectators.
Allan Bland, Beard's Project Director said: “We were delighted to be appointed the main contractor for this prestigious project,enabling us to assist the design team as well as manage the construction process.Visitors are going to have a wonderful facility in which to enjoy watching the races when they return to Salisbury Racecourse next spring.”
