Down to earth solutions
Published:  10 January, 2005

Hager has launched a new range of electronic earth fault relays, which monitor earth fault currents and enable earth fault current safeguards for conductors protected by devices of up to 800A.

The relay will provide a signal to operate the selected device via an under-voltage release, which disconnects the supply when the earth fault current rises above the selected level. The relays are linked with separate detection torroids, either circular or rectangular in section.

Features vary according to the device selected, but include both fixed and adjustable sensitivity, time delay options for selectivity and visual display of fault by red LED.Also included are extra positive safety contact,an extra output contact to enable remote indication of fault currents when they reach 50% of the set level, plus a remote test and reset by three-wire link.
