Paul Wenden, Fläkt Woods Engineering and Product Management Director, is to become President of HEVAC, the Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Manufacturers Association. Currently its Vice-President, his two-year term began at the end of July, 2008. During his second year he will also serve as President of FETA, the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations, of which HEVAC is an incorporated Association.
He views a key component of the HEVAC role as being one of communication. “Within the context of the global environmental challenge,” he said, “HEVAC members are part of the solution. They are already making a tremendous contribution, through increasing energy-efficiency and the use of sustainable technologies, and this deserves better recognition. I am determined that the Association will build upon the important work already carried out.”
Cedric Sloan, FETA Director General said: “Paul Wenden’s commitment, determination and imagination have been clear to all during his HEVAC Vice-Presidency. He brings a rare combination of skills and experience to the role, which I am sure HEVAC will be encouraged to exploit to full advantage.”
Paul Wenden has spent his entire career in the industry, having initially served a full engineering apprenticeship with Woods of Colchester, now part of Fläkt Woods. During three decades of experience, he has also gained an impressive array of qualifications, including a BEng degree in Energy Engineering. He is a chartered member of both the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). He currently chairs FETA’s Commercial Marketing Services Committee. He has also represented FETA within the Construction Industry Policy and European Regulation (CIPER) Group, the then Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) think tank exploring the impact of national and international regulation on the industry. As industry advisor, he contributed to the government’s Strategy for Sustainable Construction, published in June, 2008.
Cedric Sloan said: “FETA’s role is increasingly vital, demanding leadership with vision, energy and diplomacy. During years of interaction with our industry supply chain and Government, Paul Wenden has shown that he has these qualities in abundance.”
