John Guest has recently introduced a wider and much improved WRAS Approved range of fittings for metric size cold water services.
The fittings, which are for cold water services up to 16 Bar @ 20?C, have a body made from strong, black polypropylene and an improved collet (or gripper) incorporating stainless steel teeth to provide extra grip on the pipe.
The main benefit of the range is that a connection is made with a simple push in action, no tools are required. A fast installation is guaranteed first time every time and, once made, because of the stainless steel teeth gripping the pipe, there is a high resistance to pull out.
Even so, the fittings are easy to disconnect and can be used again without the need for replacement parts. Once the system is depressurised, the blue collect cover is removed and slid along the pipe; the collet is pushed square against the fitting, releasing the grip on the pipe, which can then be removed.
The range is offered in sizes 20mm to 32mm and includes adaptors to connect MDPE to copper or PEX (Plumbing) Pipe, Male or Female Threads and the old imperial size LLDPE.
New more stringent requirements of the 17th edition now in force.
