Newport Girls’ High School in Shropshire was founded in 1920 to provide a grammar school education. The School continues to follow this ethic today with an appropriately challenging curriculum taught in a safe and supportive environment.
To combat a lack of permanent accommodation, plans were passed for the building of an extension. Completed in late 2012 the scheme included new classrooms, a multipurpose sports hall/assembly room and changing facilities all sympathetic to the original construction.
Mechanical contractor, Dodd Group of Telford turned to commercial boiler manufacturer Mikrofill Ethos to supply progressive fuel efficient boiler plant. This included 2 No Ethos FS350 kW stainless steel condensing boilers with dual burner technology and a turn down ratio of 20 > 1.
The FS350 boilers with a seasonal efficiency in excess of 96% were unvented by a Mikrofill pressurisation package incorporating the “EFD”, expansion vessel and service drain valve.
The new boilers provide heating to both the new extension and parts of the original building.
