Over the last couple of years, the Langley Park School for Boys underwent a major refurbishment with the secondary school being demolished and rebuilt with a new state of the art performance space.

A new Sport England sports hall was built adjacent to the Phythian Building which was retained and refurbished to bring it in line with the new builds.

Design & Build experts LJJ Limited of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, decided Mikrofill’s technologically advanced floor standing boilers and Extreme loading systems were the ideal plant equipment to be installed in both the new school and refurbished Phythian building.

The project used two No. Ethos FS 350kw stainless steel condensing boilers in the new school and as well as generating heat for numerous areas, the floor standing boilers provide LPHW to a bank of Rapide Extreme hot water loading systems. The Extreme loading systems ensure the boilers maintain condensing mode whilst they each produce domestic hot water in excess of 2570l/hr at 60°C.

A further two, No. Ethos FS 350kw boilers were installed to serve the Phythian and Sports Hall buildings along with a Mikrovent 750 low loss header incorporating integral air and dirt separation.

Together, the two boilers in each building produce a maximum output of 700kW and a minimum of 35kW (20 > 1 turndown ratio) ensuring excellent load matching and efficiency throughout operation.
