Family-owned and run Gilberts Blackpool – the UK’s leading independent air movement specialist – says it is experiencing significant increase in demand for its advanced grilles, louvres and diffusers, and natural ventilation solutions. The growth is due partly to industry growth in the building and construction sector; it also reflects Gilberts’ own development, with a new approach to sales and technical R&D.
“We design, engineer and test entirely in-house,” explains Gilberts’ managing director Jonathan Haslam, whose father Gil founded the company 55 years ago. “Our significant and sustained growth means we now need more capacity. The extension will deliver an additional 7,000 sq ft of manufacturing and warehousing at our headquarters.”
Its Blackpool head office currently includes an 85000sq ft manufacturing facility, and a state-of-the-art air distribution test laboratory. Gilberts is unique in manufacturing every component in house- even as far as designing and engineering its own tools and dies in its own tool making facility.
Its 4,400sqm test centre is also unique among in-house facilities at UK air movement manufacturers; the centre enables thorough, accurate testing of air distribution grilles, diffusers and natural ventilation terminals to establish their full aerodynamic performance including throw, temperature, pressure and acoustic data.
