Lufthansa Technik Malta’s new Aircraft Centre for Excellence in MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul), at Malta International Airport, covers an area of 27,000sq m with a 270m span and can accommodate two wide-body aircraft and two narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. As a joint venture with Air Malta plc, Lufthansa Technik aims to set the pace for expertise in aircraft servicing at this strategic Mediterranean hub.

With 24/7 flight operations and over 30,000 aircraft movements a year, the Lufthansa Technik MRO centre demands the round-the-clock vigilance of a fire detection and alarm system of the highest integrity. This is why the specification comprises a custom-built 12-Loop Syncro Analogue Addressable Fire Control Panel from Kentec with the system integrated, via Hochiki interface modules, to an installation comprising over 1,500 Hochiki sensing and detecting devices, supported by Hochiki’s open protocol fire data communications. Remote interrogation and control of the Syncro system is via Kentec’s full function VIEW repeater unit.
