Dunlop Haywards Building Consultancy, based in Brentwood, specified Keston Boilers for the prefabrication of Mount Grace School’s boiler room, during the refurbishment of the institution’s Technology Block.

The consultants planned to remove the existing gas-fired heating boiler and electric immersion water heater in the core block and replace them with a high-efficiency combined heating and hot water service installation that would offer the School technologically advanced plant and controls, and a cost efficient system. It was agreed that prefabrication offered great benefits in terms of programme and quality, particularly so in this case, given the confined space into which the plant would be installed.

Keston proposed a fully pre-piped and pre-wired rig to incorporate two C55 condensing boilers, along with an unvented domestic hot water cylinder, expansion vessels and a system pump. The rig was configured to be highly effective and easy to use, and featured all the expected requirements of a high quality rig, including a SEDBUK A-Rating in energy efficiency, fully modulation, compact design and aesthetic appeal.

The system incorporated remote monitoring, extensive controls and a header arrangement. It was flexible, practical, cost effective and emitted minimal NOx emissions. The system was delivered fully pre-assembled and incorporated all required units operating in sequence
