Electrak has supplied more than 2,000m of busbar to help keep supermarket shelves well stocked with all kinds of store cupboard staples, from coffee to chocolate.
Electrical contractor, Goodmarriott and Hursthouse Ltd has used Electrak’s 40 Amp busbar in the ceiling voids of a 192,000m² extension at Innovate Logistics’ distribution centre in Barden, Leicestershire.  The high bay warehouse facility is used as a UK distribution hub for Nestlé, and the additional space has increased capacity by around one third, creating both new storage and office facilities.
The electrical installation involves twin tracks of dual-circuit Electrak busbar in the ceiling void, which is some 17m high.  One track will be used to power both the lighting system and the emergency lighting system, while the other will be used for general power. The second track will also deliver power to the warehouse’s destratisfication fans, which blow warm air away from the upper levels of the building to help maintain an ambient temperature for the goods in all areas of the distribution centre.
Electrak’s 63 Amp busbar is being installed in the office areas of the distribution centre extension, with a total of 117m of track being used to supply the offices’ small power needs along with 76 floor boxes.
“This is a major project for Innovate Logistics,” commented Colin Bostock from Goodmarriott and Hursthouse, “and the company is keen to ensure that the new facilities are fully operational as quickly as possible.  By using Electrak busbar we are not only able to assure the client of a high quality solution for their lighting and small power needs, but, thanks to the system’s ease of installation we have been able to dramatically reduce the number of man-hours needed to complete the job.
“Quick and simple installation is a major advantage when our teams are working at height on a project like this and the way in which Electrak’s busbar snap-locks together has provided an ideal solution for this challenging installation.”
