dormakaba has launched its Red Dot Design Award winning 360o City app. The innovative tool allows users to explore the company’s extensive portfolio within a virtual world that includes an airport, industrial complex and private residences. The app can be used on a smartphone or tablet in 2D, 3D and even utilised through a VR headset.

The app, which can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, provides a virtual world in which the specifier or end user can experience how dormakaba’s products can be used within a variety of situations.

Users of the app in 2D or 3D will be able to take a pre-defined route through the city and see the dormakaba products in use. Alternatively, products can be explored in detail using the product browser. The 3D experience also provides the user with short films, images and data sheets.

Additionally, the app can be also be used in VR mode on a smartphone in conjunction with a headset. In VR mode, users will have the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in dormakaba’s 360 o city, exploring detailed inner workings of a range of products.

“We have created the 360o City app, as an interactive solution that allows customers to experience our products up close and personal,” commented Jenna Higgs, Marketing Manager at dormakaba. “We are committed to providing the highest levels of support and service, and this is a really valuable way for specifiers to truly understand how our products will perform and look in-situ. This new technology is enabling more informed specifications and we encourage customers to trial it.”

Furthermore, although the app is now available, we are constantly making updates to further enhance the experience and make it more practical for a wider range of customers. As such, we plan to include hospitals, hotels, universities and other public buildings within the near future.”
