Crofton Design was crowned as the overall winner at this year’s CIBSE Employer of the Year Awards which are sponsored by Baxi Commercial Division and Heatrae Sadia. The awards recognise those employers who have shown excellence and innovation in developing the engineers of the future. They reward organisations who proactively champion young people in the industry, whether through a commitment to young people in employment or by supporting those employees through education.

Crofton Design consulting engineers specialise in mechanical, electrical, structural and civil engineering design within the construction industry. The judges were particularly impressed by Crofton Design’s university and school work placements scheme and their involvement in the Engineering Development Trust’s Engineering Education Scheme.

Crofton Design also received the award for small company with Couch Perry & Wilkes taking the award for medium company and Arup receiving the award in the large company category.

Andy Ford, CIBSE President said: “The winning companies have shown real dedication to nurturing the talent that is the next generation of building services engineers. The industry faces the challenge of ensuring that engineering is the career choice for talented students, apprentices and graduates, therefore it is vital that companies support and encourage young talent as much as possible.”

The awards ceremony, hosted by CIBSE YEN, was held in Central London, where the winning companies each received a trophy and £1000 of CIBSE training vouchers.
