BSRIA is now UKAS accredited to carry out acoustic testing and consultancy on all types of buildings for Part E of the Building Regulations.

The specialist knowledge and experience of building compliance requirements means they can provide a complete acoustic service including design consultancy, testing and practical advice on appropriate remedial measures.

Under Part E of the Building Regulations, a sample of units in new dwelling developments as well as refurbishments may have to be tested to demonstrate levels of sound insulation. This has now been extended to new schools and is also regularly specified by clients of buildings where sound can be an issue such as hotels, health centres and nightclubs.

BSRIA also undertakes environmental, workplace and plant noise surveys and can arrange laboratory testing of building components. Commenting on how this new accreditation fits with customer demands, Andrew Eastwell, Chief Executive of BSRIA said: “Construction clients are increasingly keen to assure themselves of the quality of the buildings handed over. In addition to meeting the testing requirements of airtightness and acoustic performance, the use of Post Occupancy Evaluation and voluntary schemes such as BREEAM are being specified. As a provider of UKAS accredited compliance services and voluntary schemes, BSRIA is able to provide a full service to the construction team.”
