Elco at Holly Hill SchoolELCO has supplied three 85kW THISION L boilers to Holly Hill COE Infant and Nursery School in Birmingham, replacing two ageing non condensing floor standing units. The highly efficient new boilers were installed on a free standing cascade frame with a low loss header.

The boilers were installed as part of the complete refurbishment of the plant room, including a new system design and replacement pipework throughout. An ELCO Extended Service Package was also included with the project to ensure the boilers remained efficient for their entire lifecycle.

The M&E contractor for the project was Staffordshire Mechanical Solutions Ltd (SMS), which carried out the works during the six-week summer break in order to avoid disruption to the 360-pupil school. Commenting on the refurbishment and the specification of ELCO boilers, Dave Seward, Operation Director at SMS, said: “After being selected for the project following a tender process, and calculating the heating and hot water load for the building, we knew the system would require highly efficient heat generators that had a compact design. So we turned to ELCO UK and their THISION range of wall mounted units. The boilers offered incredibly high efficiency ratings for the capacity, plus the free standing cascade frame helped reduce floor space in the redesigned plant room. Furthermore, the pre-made headers greatly increased the speed of installation.

“We’ve been really impressed with the products and service from the team at ELCO, especially our local Sales Manager, Brett Stokes, who went above and beyond to ensure the project ran as smoothly as possible. Feedback from the client has also been positive, so we’re sure to use ELCO again on future projects.”
