AET provides flexible space

AET has once again teamed up with BAA Gatwick and undertaken an installation of its Movinord office partitioning system at the London airport’s First Point office building.

The Movinord demountable steel partitioning units were specified by the contractor, Alfred McAlpine, in order to create a number of cellular office spaces within the open plan environment.  Designed specifically to be flexible and easily reconfigured, the Movinord system is easily assembled, with minimum disruption and can be repositioned many times throughout its lifetime – a clear distinction from the use of dry wall partitioning.
Ian Harding, a leading member of the project team at Alfred McAlpine, explained the merits of the Movinord system:  “When BAA Lynton, the airport owner’s commercial property operators, approached us with the project brief, it was clear that both aesthetic quality and flexibility were key components.  With the Movinord partitioning, we were confidently able to deliver an installation that could double as a comfortable office space for employees and as an attractive meeting space for visitors.”
The Movinord specification follows the successful installation of AET’s Flexible Space Concept incorporating the Hiross underfloor air conditioning system – which enabled the building’s initial construction time to be cut by 25%.
Ian added:  “Using the Movinord partitioning sat perfectly alongside AET’s flexible Hiross underfloor air conditioning system.  The modularity of the Hiross system means the floor tiles which incorporate the air supply units are completely interchangeable – allowing us to move them if we decide to rearrange the partitioning.”
BAA Lynton First Point is a state-of-the-art four-storey office development offering almost 6,000m² of lettable office space.  The ability to be flexible and reconfigure quickly, with minimum disruption and expense was crucial to BAA Lynton which envisages multiple tenancies from various air-related companies.
The Movinord range of partitioning allows specifiers to create generous glazed areas with minimal partitioning framework for a more spacious and lighter feel to the office environment.  Its latest dry jointed system, durable steel framing and pioneering, shatter-proof PMMA, (Polymethyl methacrylate – as used in aircraft windows and ice-hockey barriers) makes for an easy to assemble and demount fully flexible partitioning system.
Manufactured using ultra-modern technology, the full Movinord product range has successfully passed a number of laboratory tests and has gained certification to European standards in technical aspects including sound insulation and fire resistance.
